Check account balances without logging into your mobile banking app

Quick Balance and Interact® help customers stay on top of their finances

interact-logo_208x50Our research showed that 85% of logins to mobile banking apps are in order to do a simple, and low risk, balance check. As a result, we have introduced Quick Balance in the 5.8 release of Interact® in order to help customers stay on top of their finances at the touch of a button.

Here is how it works:

Once a customer upgrades to, or installs, a version of the Interact® mobile banking app that includes the Quick Balance function, an animated tutorial will be presented to the customer at the right time to introduce what Quick Balance is and how it will benefit them. If the customer enables this function, a new button will show up on the app login screen. The customer can then tap this button to see his/her account balances without logging in to the mobile banking app.

A simple, low-risk banking app

Interact®’s progressive security framework was introduced in order to enable Quick Balance. Most mobile banking apps available on the market today exist in the following two states:

  • An unknown state: before the user logs in, the app doesn’t know the customer. Therefore no information is revealed by the app.
  • Known & trusted state: after the user logs in, functions such as view transactions, transfer money and make a payment are made available.

A progressive banking security framework

A new state, named, “known but not trusted” was introduced by the Interact® progressive security framework. It means that the app knows the customer’s identity even before he/she logs in. Hence it permits limited information (in this case, their account balance) to be revealed at the customer’s request.

However, the customer cannot make any transactions without logging into the app. Interact®’s progressive security framework gives customers a perfect mix of security and convenience with functions such as Quick Balance.
