The European Digital Financial Services Power 50

Author: Grace Durie

Just who are the most important people in European digital financial services today?

A question that doubtless many of us working in financial services have asked ourselves at one point or another…

Well, The Digital Banking Club has decided to answer this question by compiling a list of which individuals deserve to be recognised as the most powerful industry influencers and innovators.

Once decided, they will become: The European Digital Financial Services Power 50!

Alongside the primary 50, we will also be deciding on our Top 10 Rising Stars in the digital financial services world, those people under 40, who are currently changing the way their respective financial services firms do business.

The final 50 will be comprised of regulators, analysts, innovators, consultants and influencers, those who have contributed the most to the digital movement, which over the past few years has grown to become one of the most important facets of the financial services sector.

However not to be included in this list are payments providers, back office technology suppliers, journalists or PR’s.

And in whose hands do we place this undertaking? Who will select the final 50?

Well, the members of The Digital Banking Club, alongside the readers of Electronic Payments International, Retail Banker International and Cards International have been tasked to nominate those they feel meet the criteria.

Once the preliminary nominations are in then the names will be handed on to an external judging panel, who will choose who gets to be a member of The Power 50.

These experts in financial services will comprise of:

  • Richard Cooper of FIS Global
  • Jerry Mulle of Intelligent Environments
  • Daniel Mayo of Ovum
  • Douglas Blakey of Timetric, who will also act as Chairman
  • Roy Vella of V2
  • Ian Sayers of Zapp

So when will this list be revealed? When do you get to know who has become one of The Power 50? All will be revealed on The Digital Banking Club site in April 2014.

I await the final list with eager anticipation, but for now, we are waiting for the names to start flooding in and for the debate to begin!
